Kondor Wessels Vastgoed (project development) is joint owner of the Pier of Scheveningen and is investigating the exploitation possibilities for the development of the “Next Pier” in collaboration with the municipality of The Hague. It is a very challenging project in which many different stakeholders want to express their ambitions. They asked On the Morro to bring creativity and a structured methodology to realize a breakthrough in the plans.
In an Applied Futures Lab, we brought together stakeholders who have been involved in researching, designing, and realizing a new interpretation for this project in recent years. With a distant future perspective, in which information technology redefines nature and people, the stakeholders were challenged to enlarge their worldview in order to create space to connect with other ideas.
This resulted in supported future scenarios that On the Morro, with a smaller team of architects and designers, translated into a vision, the guiding principle, for the project. This is included in the plans to the municipality and the central government.
