Successful projectmanagement

“What does successful project management look like in a VUCA world, within a regulations dominated environment?”

ProRail’s trainees want to become (even) better project managers. After a few years of working in various positions, they clearly understand what is required in a project, but in practice they run into resistance and politics. They lack certain skills when it comes to managing a project. On the Morro offered them training and coaching to better structure their projects and become aware of their influence in engaging stakeholders in the process.

“Design Thinking gives a lot of structure to my own thinking process, and is a creative way to gather a lot of information. In addition, I have learned: if you keep asking critical questions without judging you can go to a deeper level, you should actually do that in every group. After the training, I organized a meeting with the important stakeholders in my project to go through a similar process together from formulating our common goal to jointly organizing the project. The training gave me the confidence and the tools to make the idea I already had about this even sharper and better.” (Matthijs Baurichter – Technical Trainee)

“Super valuable insight that you have to continuously diverge and converge in a process. It may sound obvious, but as a manager you are often busy with day-to-day operations, in that situation you occasionally have to zoom out to be able to take steps forward again, and then stand behind the choices you have made. The greatest insight from the training and follow-up is the continuous testing of your assumptions. I’m going to work on that!” (Boaz IJpelaar – Department Manager Service Delivery ICT Logistics)”.

“I learned a lot, it really sticks with me. I am inspired by all working methods and the effect of thinking outside in, including the importance of thinking about the future. In my work I notice that it helps to always actively apply ‘the questioning’, ‘the gaze of wonder’ to make progress, to take others along in the route I map out in my projects.” (Leah Bekkering – Product Owner Image Recognition)

“A very important insight that you have to delve into time and again in who your stakeholders are and what their interests are”.
